web advice: marketing and the internet
Every day we become more dependent upon the internet for information about products and services. It has become our yellow pages and our telephone directory.
Most businesses realise that, to stay competitive, they need to be found on the internet. But this can be more than simply having a website. Advertising is one way, but so is sponsoring pages or other sites, offering a newsletter on your own or another website, running a blog, and other ways to make sure your target audience clicks to you.
I can advise you on what routes you can take to get you to your audience. I don't offer solutions you can't afford: clever is better than costly.
Search engines Search engines are the first place most companies look at when seeking to raise their profile on the internet. Getting a high listing on a search engine is extremely difficult, and can be expensive. There are ways to get higher rankings on Google, MSN and others, but some search engines, e.g. Ask Jeeves, is 100% paid listings. I always optimise the website I build so that search engines will favour them, and can tell you the other ways to boost your rankings. Where payment is necessary, I can advise you where to go to get the best deals.
