If you want to be able to add, edit and delete content on your website yourself, but you don't want to become a fully-fledged webmaster, there is an easier way.
You can build an expensive content management system, or you can buy one of a number of easy-to-use content editing software packages.
'Web management' software sits in the administrative area at the back of your website. You connect to it via your browser, so it is as easy as logging onto a website. Put in a username nd password, and you're in. You can then go to the page you need to change and edit the text without worrying that your website's design or structure will accidently be changed.
The better web management software allows you to add pages, delete pages, add, change and delete images, and change links and email addresses, using only the skills you use to type a document on your computer. It is the easiest way to have a straightforward, inexpensive website that you can manage for yourself.
Web management software is not as expensive as setting up a content management system website, but the software can cost (depending on the package chosen) £80-£200 per licence, and each person, or at least every computer used, would need a separate licence.
But if you really need to edit your site yourself, a web management package may be the solution for you. I can recommend several packages, set them up for you, and train you or your staff in how to use it. Please contact me to discuss whether DIY web management is right for you.
